Degradation of Flame-Retardant Cross-Linked Polyethylene Caused by Heat, Gamma-Rays, and Steam

Various kinds of polymers are used for electrical insulation in nuclear power plants. They subjected to thermal and radioactive stresses, depending on their locations. also high-temperature steam the event an accident. Regarding this, sheets flame-retardant cross-linked polyethylene (FR-XLPE) were heat, gamma-rays, exposure, infrared absorption spectra, stress-strain relations, indenter moduli, permittivity spectra measured. As a result, we have made clear various degradation-induced property changes FR-XLPE. In addition, it has become that structures formed by gamma-ray irradiation this regard, some aspects degradation due subsequent exposure suppressed formation firm three-dimensional structures.
